Privacy Policy

Meldzen is a notebook and personal assistant app. This policy explains what data we process, why, where it is stored, and how you can delete it. Short version: your data is stored on our own server, encrypted at rest, and we do not sell it or use it for advertising.
1. Data we process
- Account: email address and password (stored as a bcrypt hash), display name and avatar you provide.
- Your content: notes, checklists, drawings, spreadsheets, goals, finance records and reminders you create; messages you send to the AI assistant.
- Contacts: names, phone numbers and emails — only if you import them from your device or create them in the app.
- Photos: images you attach to notes or receipts you photograph for recognition (OCR).
- Location (weather): approximate coordinates — only when you use the weather feature, to determine your city (we store the city, not the coordinates).
- Technical data: app version, device platform, error logs (crash diagnostics), and aggregate usage counters needed to operate and secure the service.
2. How we use it
- To provide the service: syncing your notes across your devices, reminders, calendar, goals, expenses, e-mail integration you enable.
- AI features: your requests and relevant context are sent to the AI provider (DeepSeek) to generate answers, summaries and analysis.
- Weather: approximate location is sent to the weather provider (Open-Meteo).
- Security and reliability: rate limiting, diagnostics, fraud prevention.
3. Storage and protection
- Data is stored on servers we operate (EU hosting provider), with TLS in transit and AES-256-GCM encryption at rest for sensitive fields and your content.
- We keep your data while your account exists. Deleted content is removed; account deletion erases your data as described in section 5.
4. Sharing with third parties
We never sell your data. Data is shared only as needed to run the features you use:
- AI provider (DeepSeek) — AI requests you explicitly make (secretary, analysis). Your data is not used by us for advertising; provider processing is governed by their terms.
- Weather provider (Open-Meteo) — approximate location for the weather feature.
- Google (optional) — only if you connect Google Calendar / Gmail yourself.
- Your mail provider (optional) — only if you add an IMAP/SMTP mailbox.
- Apple / Google app stores — for app distribution, updates and (where applicable) payments, under their own policies.
- Infrastructure providers — hosting and e-mail delivery strictly to operate the service.
5. Your rights
- Access, correction and deletion of your data — contact us or use the app.
- Delete your account in the app: Settings → Account → “Delete account”. This permanently erases your account, notes, goals, contacts, mail credentials, memories and attachments from our servers (and our content storage). This cannot be undone.
- If you are in the EEA/UK (GDPR) or California (CCPA), you may contact us to exercise your rights. You may also lodge a complaint with your regulator.
6. Children
The service is not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect data from children.
7. Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will be announced in the app or on this page. The effective date is shown above.
